Introduced in July 2003, Thailand’s Elite Visa program offers a unique opportunity to secure extended residency through a membership-based investment. Depending on the chosen package, applicants can obtain 5 to 20 years of residency in Thailand, with fees ranging from 650,000 Thai Baht (approximately $20,000 USD) to 5 million Thai Baht (around $155,000 USD).
Crucially, the Elite Visa is a non-immigrant program; it does not lead to permanent residency or citizenship and simply expires at the end of its term. Furthermore, holders of this visa are not permitted to work in Thailand unless they acquire a separate work permit. However, the program provides significant lifestyle advantages, granting members unrestricted entry and exit from Thailand for the duration of their visa. Beyond this travel flexibility, members gain access to an exclusive array of premium services designed to enhance their life in Thailand. These can include complimentary hotel accommodations, discounts on dining and shopping, access to co-working facilities, VIP airport services, golf privileges, health check-ups, and spa treatments.

Thailand Elite Visa: Membership Tiers and Benefits
The Thailand Elite Visa program currently offers five distinct membership tiers, each with varying costs and benefits:
Bronze Membership (5-Year): Priced at 650,000 Thai Baht (approx. $20,000 USD), this is the most straightforward option. Holders enjoy unrestricted entry and exit from Thailand for five years and can open local bank accounts, but it doesn’t include any privilege points.
Gold Membership (5-Year): Costing 900,000 Thai Baht (approx. $28,000 USD), this is a single-applicant visa, meaning dependents cannot be included. Gold cardholders receive 20 privilege points annually, which can be used for various services like hotel stays, dining, shopping, co-working spaces, airport services, golf, health check-ups, and spas.
Platinum Membership (10-Year): A single membership costs 1.5 million Thai Baht (approx. $46,500 USD). If you wish to add dependents, each additional dependent requires an extra 1 million Thai Baht. Platinum cardholders receive 35 privilege points annually.
Diamond Membership (15-Year): For a single applicant, this tier is 2.5 million Thai Baht (approx. $77,500 USD). Adding dependents costs an additional 1.5 million Thai Baht per dependent. Diamond cardholders receive 55 privilege points annually.
Reserve Membership (20-Year): This exclusive tier requires approval from the Thailand Privilege Card Company Limited (TPC). A single membership is priced at 5 million Thai Baht (approx. $155,000 USD). Each additional dependent costs 2 million Thai Baht. Reserve cardholders are granted a generous 120 privilege points annually.
Currently, the Thai government is offering special promotions on the Platinum, Diamond, and Reserve cards. For Platinum card applications submitted before September 30, 2025, the additional fee for each dependent is reduced to 500,000 Thai Baht.

Application Process:
Applying for the Thailand Elite Visa is a straightforward process, primarily requiring your passport, recent personal photos, and a completed application form, followed by payment for your chosen membership.
However, it’s important to note that you cannot apply for the Elite Visa on your own. You must work with a locally accredited agent officially recognized by the Thai government to submit your application.
Here’s a breakdown of the application process:
1. Application Submission
First, you’ll need to engage with a local agent authorized by the Thai government. You’ll provide electronic copies of required documents such as your passport, recent photos, and any relationship documents for dependents. Your agent will then help you complete and submit the Elite Visa application form.
2. Background Check
The Thai government conducts a background check, which typically takes between 30 to 90 business days. This check primarily verifies that you have no history of illegal stays in Thailand, no criminal record, and a stable financial standing.
3. Payment
Once your application is approved, you’ll transfer the membership fee to the bank account designated by the authorities. You’ll then provide the payment confirmation to the official governing body, the Thailand Privilege Card Company Ltd (TPC).
4. Visa Issuance
After successful payment, TPC will register your information in their system and send you your Elite Visa membership ID and a welcome letter. Finally, you’ll need to complete the signing process at a nearby Thai embassy or consulate, or at one of the designated immigration offices in Thailand: Chiang Mai Airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport, Phuket Airport, or the Chaengwattana Immigration Bureau in Bangkok.
