How To Immigrate To Uzbekistan In 2023:
For foreign nationals, Uzbekistan offers a program that grants residency through investment. Additionally, they are rolling out new policies for citizenship by investment.
Residency By Investment Program:
Foreign nationals can secure a Uzbekistan residence visa through one of the following three investment avenues:
1. Real Estate Acquisition: A residence visa is attainable by:
Buying property worth more than $400,000 in Tashkent.
Or, purchasing properties valued above $200,000 in other primary cities.
Or, investing in real estate exceeding $100,000 in The Republic of Karakalpakstan and other regions of the Republic.
2. Economic Contribution: By funneling an amount equal to 8,500 times the local baseline living cost (around $200,000) into the Uzbek economy, foreign nationals are eligible for a 3-year visa. Retaining this investment ensures continuous visa extensions.
3. Big Investment: As of a policy set forth in October 2022, a hefty investment of $3 million in Uzbekistan’s economy grants foreign investors a permanent residency(renewable every 10 years).
Citizenship By Investment:
In November 2022, the Uzbekistan government introduced a draft proposal, aiming to provide foreign investors who invest more than $1 million locally, as well as globally renowned scientists, athletes, and figures from the arts and cultural sectors, with a direct pathway to citizenship. As of now, this proposal is undergoing public consultation.
Taxation:
Uzbekistan imposes a 12% tax on the global income of its residents.
Naturalization:
According to local guidelines, foreigners who have legally lived in Uzbekistan for 5 years, and have gainful employment are eligible to apply for citizenship. Yet, in real-world scenarios, obtaining an Uzbek passport isn’t always straightforward for them.
Passport Power:
Uzbekistan does not recognize dual citizenship. Its passport is ranked jointly 91st in the world. Uzbek citizens can travel freely (either visa-free or with visa on arrival) to 58 countries and regions globally, including Russia, India, and Australia.
