Argentina Investment Visa | An Incomplete Guide

Overview:

The Argentina Investment Visa (Inversionista Visa) program has been operational since 2017. It is issued to foreigners who invest 1.5 million pesos (approximately 1,600 USD) or more in local manufacturing, commerce, and service sectors.

This visa does not impose significant restrictions on the sector, type, or scale of the investment. However, the investment funds must first be transferred to the local central bank, BCRA, and the BCRA oversees the flow of funds.

In addition to the investment requirements, applicants must also meet basic requirements such as having no criminal record, the legality of the investment source, providing a convincing business plan, and demonstrating a credible financial history.

Application Process:

To apply for an Argentina Investment Visa, you must first enter Argentina and complete the investment. Your investment funds must come from legal sources and be transferred into the country through the Argentine Central Bank (BCRA).

After completing the investment, you need to submit an application to the Argentine Ministry of Economy. The Ministry will assess the legality and sustainability of each investment.

Once approved by the Ministry of Economy, you need to register in the Ministry of Interior’s RADEX system, submit a residence card application, and pay the visa fee.

Required documents for this program include:

• Applicant identification documents: including valid passports of the primary and secondary applicants; passport-sized photos; proof of relationship documents such as birth certificates, marriage certificates, etc.

• Application form: You need to fill out an application form with personal information, reasons for applying for the investment visa, and the intended duration of stay in Argentina.

• Business plan: You need to provide a detailed and convincing business plan for your investment in Argentina. This plan must cover how the company will develop, whether it will benefit the local economy, and whether it can create jobs or other benefits for the local community.

• Primary applicant’s resume: You need to provide a resume detailing your educational background, professional experience, and business experience.

• Proof of funds source: You need to provide a series of documents, including income proof and asset proof, to demonstrate the legality of the investment funds.

• Proof of health insurance purchase: You need to purchase valid health insurance in Argentina for all primary and secondary applicants.

• Proof of no criminal record: All adult primary and secondary applicants must provide proof of no criminal record issued by law enforcement agencies in regions where they have lived for more than one year in the past three years.

All documents must be notarized, and all non-Spanish documents must be translated into Spanish.

The National Directorate of Migration will decide whether to issue a short-term residence card.

If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation email, which serves as your short-term residence visa. However, you will still need to have an interview with an Argentine visa officer.

The RADEX system will provide you with an interview date. On this day, you need to bring all the hard copy documents and go to the Argentine Immigration Office for the interview, where you will complete fingerprinting and other procedures.

Once you pass the interview, you will receive an Argentine ID (DNI: National Identity Document), which allows you to live freely in the country.

Dependents:

For the Argentina Investment Visa, the primary applicant’s spouse and financially dependent children under 25 can jointly obtain the visa as dependents.

Visa Validity:

The Argentina Investment Visa is valid for one year and can be renewed three times.

After legally residing in the country for two years, investment visa holders can apply for Argentine citizenship, or you can apply for permanent residence in Argentina after residing in the country for three years.
