Fiji Investor Permit | An Incomplete Guide

Overview:

The Fiji Investor Permit is an immigration visa offered by the Fiji government that allows overseas investors to obtain residency rights in exchange for investment. To apply for this visa, you need to invest a certain amount of money in a Fiji-based company or acquire shares in a company.

Currently, Fiji offers two types of visas for investor residency:

1. A three-year residency permit issued to foreign investors who invest 50,000 Fijian dollars(about 22,100 USD) in Fiji;

2. A seven-year residency permit issued to foreign investors who invest 250,000 Fijian dollars (approximately 110,700 USD) in Fiji.

Both types of investment visas allow for multiple applicants. For example, three people can each contribute 50,000 Fijian dollars and jointly operate a company, thereby obtaining a Fiji investment visa together.

In addition to financial requirements, applicants must also meet basic criteria such as being at least 18 years old and registering a company in Fiji.

Application Process:

Currently, all Fijian immigration visas, including the Investor Permit, can be applied for online. The required process can be divided into the following steps:

1. Complete the investment: To apply for the Fijian Investment Visa, you first need to establish, acquire, or hold shares in a company in Fiji, register the company in the Fijian business and tax systems, complete the investment, and obtain an investment confirmation letter from the Fiji Trade and Investment Bureau (FITB).

2. Submit the application: After completing the investment and gathering all necessary documents, you can fill out the application form online and submit your application.

Required documents include:

  • Applicant identity documents: This includes passports for all primary and secondary applicants, passport-sized photos, and documents proving relationships such as birth certificates and marriage certificates.

  • Application form: You need to download, fill out, and upload the application form online.

  • Investment confirmation letter: The investment confirmation letter provided by the FITB is a prerequisite for applying for this visa.

  • Proof of investment: You need to provide proof of fund transfers, including bank statements, and details about your company such as an overview, main operations, shareholding relationships, business background, tax ID, registered address, and contact information.

  • Medical examination report: All primary and secondary applicants must provide a medical examination report issued within three months before the date of the application.

  • Criminal record certificate: All adult primary and secondary applicants must provide a criminal record certificate from regions where they have resided for more than one year in the past ten years.

Documents from outside Fiji must be notarized, and non-English documents must be translated into English.

The visa fee for the Fijian Investment Visa is 664.5 Fijian dollars, approximately 294.5 US dollars. The entire application process takes about 21 working days.

Dependents:

For the Fiji Investment Permit, the primary applicant’s spouse and financially dependent children under of 21 can obtain residency permits as secondary applicants.

Visa Validity:

For any type of Fiji Investment Permit, you can continually renew your visa under the original conditions as long as you maintain your investment.

Fiji does not have a permanent residency card in the true sense; long-term residency is merely a sticker in your passport.

Foreigners who have resided in Fiji for five years within the ten years prior to submitting their application, and who have mastered an official language (English, Fijian, or Hindi), may be eligible to apply for naturalization in Fiji.
